In case you were wondering . . .

I'm starting a bucket list. I'll have it posted soon, and I'll continually be adding to it.

I thought I'd share one with you right now.
You've probably never seen this movie:

But it's one of my favorites. (I grew up on "Feature Films for Families" movies - my mom worked there when I was little.)

ANYWAY, the point is, she takes a bath, outside, under the stars. And I think that sounds AMAZING. So there you have it, I want to bathe outside. It will happen one day, and you won't be there.

Also, speaking of that, I almost fell out of the shower twice, that's right I said twice, this week. The first time was because of my violent morning sneezing. I sneezed very loudly and then screamed because I seriously almost fell through the curtain.
(Chelsea: "Ummm . . . are you okay?")
The second time was this morning, because I was just so dang tired that I started falling asleep standing up. Then I thought, "Man, what if my mom had to call into work and tell them I couldn't come in because I fell asleep in the shower and broke my leg?" And I decided it was good that I didn't face plant into my bathroom floor.

Moral of the story: showering is dangerous.

the end.

Seven Q's

As my mom pointed out last week, I failed to mention what seven questions was. So let me tell you right now.
There's a lovely lady named Gentri who posts seven questions every week on Wednesdays. She answers them herself, with the required funny picture, and then asks everyone else, too. I love seven questions. Also Gentri. Also questions in general. :) So here they are!

1. You are stuck somewhere you really don't want to be, do you: walk home, call a friend, or stick it out?
Probably stick it out. If I'm really miserable, I'll call a friend.

2. Do you like to PLAY sports?
Not usually. I'm TERRIBLY uncoordinated (I fall down without even doing anything). But if it's with really good friends or family, then I can laugh it off and have a great time. My favorite to play has to be volleyball.

3. Everyone has that one "different" song that they secretly love. What's yours?
I don't know, I like a lot of music that's unpopular. I'd have to say though, that I will always and forever love this:

4. What is the one thing you feel you are really good at?
I'm really good at adapting. I'm very understanding and accepting of people because of this. I don't get really flustered when something changes, I just say, "Okay, that's how it is." And I go with it.

5. A Dog is running in your direction and barking loudly. What do you do?
Freeze. That's all, I think. :)

6. Star gazing or cloud watching?
I LOVE star gazing. It is one of my favorite things to do. It reminds me of being at my grandparents' log home (they don't live there anymore, but I have a lot of great childhood memories there). It was far enough from the town that we could see every star. Every one. :) Those were the best summer nights.

7. What time of the day do you feel the most productive?
Early in the morning, especially if it's summer. When I get up, and the sun's just rising, I feel like I can conquer anything.

Some other things I think you should know about me:

  • I'm in love with aprons. I collect them from everyplace I go.
  • I put on belting-ipod concerts in my car. Nobody comes.
  • My boyfriend is turning me into a gamer (and I like it)
  • I LOVE DOCTOR WHO. David Tennant is my doctor forever.
the end.

p.s. Link up with Gentri! It's fun . . . you'll like it . . . :)

Some words I am proficient at forgetting.

You know, sometimes it's just okay to cry.
Sometimes, it's okay to just be sad.

But then I move on,
I stand up,
I grow.

I remember that despite the gorgeous girls on pinterest, and the funny things I wish I had come up with myself, I am intelligent. Despite the hard things that come every day, despite the days that I just don't want to face, I remember that I am important. Everyone is important.

We are free.
We are beautiful.
We are important.

Why?
Because we are
ALIVE.

And . . . scene.

taken by spencer

I have this thing.
You know those glasses that turn into sunglasses when you wear them in the sun?
I hate them.

On a completely different note, I'm back in school this week. I can't stop thinking about what college is going to be like, and it's distracting.

I feel like such a kid. I'm entering as a freshman. College. COLLEGE. All my other friends already have a year or two behind them, and I feel like fresh-meat. (Gettit? Freshman, fresh meat . . . ha)

"You're going to love college! It's so fun!"
Also hard.
Also big.

IT'S SO BIG. What do I even do? I don't know.

On anothernother note, I promise I'll post Easter pictures. Someday.

the end.

Life Without an iPhone

Sometimes I get jealous that I don't have an iPhone, and I can't use instagram to take pictures of little things that make me smile. (And I wonder how I'm ever going to survive)

But then I have days like today, where I take my little brother to get a hair cut and have the best chess game with him (I would have won, too, if it wasn't his turn for the chair), and I realize that somedays just don't need pictures. Somedays, we can just remember it and enjoy that it happened.

I'm grateful for my brother, who likes to tell me things I don't know about the world (those cylinder things on power lines? They're called "transformers.") and who sometimes tells me I look really cute, even though he's ten and feels sheepish about it.

The end.

p.s. what a good lookin' kid! he's gonna get all the ladies.

Weekend thoughts

Especially spring sessions, because then it's right close to Easter
and I love Easter.

I feel so much love for the people that are close,
and for the people that are not.

Everyone needs to be loved.
Everyone deserves to be loved.
And in spite of all the ugly that surrounds us,
There's a whole lot of beautiful, too.

My radiant grandmother.

become more important than
a person to be loved."

All except for this.

I'll say it.
Work today sort of sucked.
It was really, REALLY hard.

However.
A little girl (probably second grade, not one of my students) came up to me in the middle of a class transition, tapped my arm, looked up at me and said,
"You look pretty."
with a great big grin.

And I, with frazzled hair and no mascara, said,
"Thank you, (name)."
She smiled some more and started walking away before she whipped around with big eyes and said,
"How do you know my name!"
And I laughed as I informed her that she was wearing a name tag.

And so, I would like to formally thank parents and siblings and primary teachers who teach little kids
to say nice things.
And to smile.
Smiling is nice, too.

Skin

I was thinking about skin, today. How it grows. And bones, too. They seem so solid, and the same (especially bones), but really? They are changeable. I have this skin, and it's the same skin that I had when I was born, the same skin I grew in the womb. Right?

It just seems so strange to me. This very skin. It has changed, certainly, but it's still my skin. I'm still the same person, but I've changed too. I still smile big, and think and dream and love big, but I've changed so much.

Do you ever think about that?
